Riding with Chinese winter tyres on a track is definitely not a thing. I finally decided to buy proper racing tyres. Ladies and gentlemen, Extrime VR2 in medium compound.

- I went with the medium compound because most of the season will be hot. Ideally, I’d like to have soft and medium sets. But they’re not exactly cheap. We’ll see, maybe I’ll grab two soft ones for the front.

- At the tyre shop, it turned out my exhaust pipe was literally 0.5 cm too long and would have touched the tyre. So they just trimmed it with an angle grinder on the spot. Professional solutions only.

- Old size: 165/60 R14
New size: 185/55 R14
It’s not a huge difference (check the first pic), but enough for the tyres to start touching the arches. Absolutely barbaric, but I had to remove the fender liners and trim a few mounts. Also, you could grow potatoes in those arches. I removed all the soil and applied anti-corrosion coating.

- The grip difference is massive. Can’t wait to try them on track.
